Noise/Channel Robustness

SRI has developed noise-modeling techniques that permit speech recognition even in the presence of ambient noise or channel distortion. Without such techniques, speech-recognition performance can significantly degrade when the microphone is changed or when there is background noise. SRI's patented approach has resulted in performance superior to previous algorithms. Our algorithms have show stable recognition under a variety of channel conditions and noisy environments, including telephone conditions.
